María Rodríguez Rojo
Accomplished iOS Developer with 13+ years of experience across healthcare, transportation, and enterprise sectors. Building user-centric solutions across Europe.
~/about_me
I build iOS apps that people actually use — from mental health platforms protecting patient data under GDPR, to EU border control systems for freight carriers, to Bluetooth beacon SDKs improving accessibility in public transport. With a Master's in Telecommunications Engineering from UVA and over a decade in Swift and Objective-C, I combine deep technical knowledge with clean architecture, rigorous testing, and a genuine obsession with accessibility and user experience.

via LinkedInI've worked alongside María for 6 years across two very different companies —GMV and Minddistrict— and if there's one thing I can say with absolute certainty, it's that she's one of those people you always want on your team. At GMV, we worked together as mobile developers (I was on Android, she was on iOS) on projects like Satelise, Covclear, and Galileo Green Lanes. But where María truly stood out was on a project for TMB (Barcelona's public transport operator), where she developed a BLE library and several applications aimed at improving public transport accessibility for visually impaired users. I was involved as a mobile consultant on that project and witnessed firsthand the quality of her work and her ability to solve complex problems with technologies that are far from trivial. What stands out most about María is her constant drive to learn and adapt. I've watched her evolve from Objective-C to Swift, from UIKit with storyboards to programmatic UIKit and SwiftUI, move through reactive paradigms like RxSwift and ReactiveCocoa, and embrace modern Swift concurrency with async/await. Always up to date, always moving forward. And she doesn't limit herself to iOS: at GMV she maintained a legacy Android app in Java, and we even worked together on Kotlin Multiplatform applications. That kind of versatility is not something you come across often. At Minddistrict, we worked together on an eHealth platform dedicated to mental health — a product with real impact on the lives of the patients and professionals who use it. The leap was significant in every sense: a different company culture, different methodologies, a different way of organising teams and building product. María adapted to that change with the same ease she brings to adopting new technologies, always maintaining a professional and constructive attitude. Working with María is easy: communication flows naturally, she understands context, she doesn't create unnecessary noise, and she contributes wherever it's needed. Any team that brings her on board will gain a senior iOS developer with a very solid technical background, but above all, they'll gain a colleague who's very hard to let go of once you get to know her.
